The professional ethics of motor vehicle drivers are an integral part of socialist professional ethics; at the same time, they are subordinate to social ethics and are governed by them. Therefore, in their professional activities, motor vehicle drivers are regulated not only by administrative and disciplinary measures but, to a greater extent, by their inner moral convictions. An excellent driver should embody the following professional ethical principles: First, they must cultivate a spirit of dedication to serving the people wholeheartedly. This means fostering a mindset of wholeheartedly serving passengers, customers, and cargo owners, and putting this mindset into practice in daily actions. They must be diligent in their driving duties, disregarding personal gains, losses, and compensation. When personal interests conflict with those of others or the collective—especially when the interests of the state or the collective are at risk, or when the lives and property of the people are threatened and require them to step forward—they must minimize losses to the greatest extent possible. Second, we must uphold the proletarian values of labor. Our Constitution clearly stipulates: “Labor is the glorious duty of all citizens capable of working.” An excellent driver should love labor and cultivate a habit of loving their job. They must be diligent and conscientious in their duties, doing their utmost, and fight against all forms of laziness in thought and action. They must possess a spirit of dedication and joy in their work, establishing a new moral concept that labor is honorable and that the profession of motor vehicle driving is honorable. Third, they must uphold the ideals of socialist material and spiritual civilization. This is also the professional ideal of an excellent driver and the primary virtue they should possess. Drivers must use this to regulate their own behavior. Foster the concept of civilized transportation and courteous driving. This embodies the comprehensive manifestation of a driver’s professional attitude, responsibility, conscience, and honor, and serves as a “window” into the construction of socialist spiritual civilization. Therefore, while driving, drivers must adopt a proper driving style, uphold the principle of serving the people, and continuously improve the quality of their service. Fourth, strive to improve professional skills. A driver’s professional skills refer to the sum of practical operational experience, technical ability, and theoretical knowledge required for driving work. Professional skills are a constituent element of the basic norms of professional ethics; professional ethics are manifested through specific professional skills, and professional skills, in turn, serve as the fundamental guarantee for realizing and elevating the standard of professional ethics. Striving to cultivate sound professional skills is a prerequisite for improving a driver’s professional ethics and an essential component of that improvement. Under no circumstances are drivers permitted to engage in the following behaviors while on the road: “racing against friends,” “stopping to watch a commotion,” “overtaking slow vehicles,” “detouring around traffic jams,” “weaving through traffic when empty,” or “stopping at every request.”
