The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a luxury sedan produced by Mercedes-Benz, a brand under Germany’s Daimler Group. Building on over a century of Mercedes-Benz’s masterful craftsmanship and driven by a continuous stream of technological innovation, it features more than 30 advanced safety systems in the areas of safety, automotive engineering, and environmental protection, making it a reliable and exceptional vehicle.

Every detail has been meticulously designed and crafted, achieving the pinnacle of excellence in driving performance, luxurious appearance, and safety. It is equipped with the cutting-edge PRE-SAFE active safety system, which pioneered the “pre-safety concept” by anticipating hazards and taking immediate preventive action.

The letter “S” in Mercedes-Benz model names has long been synonymous with prestige, high quality, and cutting-edge technology. Consequently, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has never faced criticism for being overloaded with high-tech features. In addition to the high-tech equipment mentioned above, the new S-Class has been enhanced and upgraded with the following features in terms of handling, comfort, and safety:

(1) Extensive use of high-tech materials and technologies. In the new S-Class, high-strength or ultra-high-strength alloy steel accounts for approximately 43% of the total steel used in the vehicle, compared to just 6% in the previous generation. In addition to the existing laser welding, the new S-Class has further expanded the application of high-strength adhesive bonding technology, enhancing the body’s rigidity and load-bearing capacity.

(2) Brake Assist Plus (BA Plus) — a braking assistance system. Using two front-mounted radars to detect objects ahead, BA Plus alerts the driver when the distance to the vehicle in front falls below a safe following distance or when the following speed is too high. If a potential collision is detected, the system can also apply corresponding auxiliary braking. Depending on the current speed, the maximum deceleration during braking can reach 0.41g, compared to just 0.2g in the previous generation. Unfortunately, however, this high-tech feature cannot be included in the new S-Class sold in China due to non-compliance with relevant domestic regulations.

(3) ABC—Second-Generation Active Body Control. This system automatically adjusts damping based on driving conditions to ensure a stable ride. Compared to the previous generation, the new S-Class reduces body roll by 60% when cornering. It’s safe to say that if you insist on driving the new S-Class like a sports car, it’s more than capable of handling it.

(4) Suspension System. The new S-Class continues to use a multi-link rear suspension, but it is now constructed entirely of aluminum. The design has been improved over the previous generation, with the entire rear subframe being lighter, smaller, and stiffer. To achieve better comfort and handling, the new S-Class’s Airmatic air suspension has been thoroughly recalibrated. With the push of a button, the driver can select between Comfort and Sport modes.
